It is always easier to deal with the truth, no matter what it is. | MP3.com CD: Mellow Out - buy it!
Credits: lyrics, music, & vocals by Linda McKeeth, guitar accompaniment by Bill McKeeth |
Story Behind the Song
I was remembering times past and lessons learned. Life taught me that knowing the truth, no matter how painful it may be, is easier than not knowing. Then at least we can deal with life, and know where we stand. We all have the right to know the truth.
Lyrics
TRUTH
By Linda McKeeth © 3/21/02
I'm so lonely.
I'm so sad.
And somehow strangely,
I also feel glad.
It's confusing.
Could it be
That the truth
Has lifted me?
I pretended
Like I didn't know.
Even when the
Evidence showed.
You were unfaithful.
I played the fool.
I thought if I didn't know,
It wouldn't be true.
It's been hard
Dealing with the lies
Deception hurts most.
I've come to realize.
I would rather
Hurt honestly.
Than have the truth
Hidden from me.
I'm so lonely
I'm so sad
And somehow strangely
I also feel glad
To know the truth
Of things as they are
Gives me a strength,
I haven't known so far.
Being misguided
And uncertainties
Are as shifting
As the sand and seas.
Truth is as firm
As a mountain tall.
It will never
Let me fall.
Lies are nothingness
Impossible to face.
Truth is solid
And easily embraced.
The next person
I share my life with
Will say what's true
And accept no less.
You are leaving
This is true,
But true has meaning
And makes things new.
Ignorance isn't
Always bliss.
Truth is freeing
I now know this.
So when you see
Tears from me.
They will not
All sadness be.
There will be gladness
In my heart.
Gladness that the
Truth has brought.
Now I'm not so lonely,
And not so sad.
