Story Behind the Song
I had this dream. It really had an impact on me. I pondered it at the time, and it remained in my memory. Most dreams I barely remember the next morning. It was about 10 years later, that I woke up one night. I just knew what that dream had been telling me. I got up and wrote it all down. If we want to be of service to others, we have to take care of ourselves. St. Matthew 22:39 says, "...Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." I had failed to notice the "as thyself" part. If we don't love ourselves, we can not fully love someone else, and our capacity to serve will be diminished.
