    Story Behind the Song
Weird story on this one. I am a huge Cracker fan and in the early days of the internet someone got me a copy of the Lyrics to the song Dixie Babylon from the Golden Age CD before the CD came out. I had never heard the song but thought it would be fun to write my own music to the lyrics. This is what I came up with... of course it wasn't even close to what they did -which was good. It left me a song to use. I changed the lyrics to my own, reworked what I had and came up with this. The only song on the new album not written this year, it changes so much while being recorded that it feels newer than any of the new songs.

    Lyrics
    We paddled down
    wrapped up in the sound
    of the frost and fall,
    passed the empty town

    Under a changing sky,
    like the weathered song denied,
    dissolving what you could be.

    The fields dusted by snow
pass by us as we pull to shore,
    and I let you win.

    Like all our needs,
the clouds fell down on me.
Still you're standing in the dark
    beneath the stars we see.

    "It always takes too long
    to recognize whats gone,
    and its empty here,
    and we're born to die."

    Under the changing sky
like the heated sound of lies
    disolving, who you might be.

    Shores dusted grey by snow
you said the time had come to go
    and I let you win.

    And like our needs
the clouds fell down on me.
    Still you're standing
    across the field,
    bringing down the dawn.
