    Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song after the daily beating I see the American Work Force taking. You can't pick up a Business section anymore without reading about Americans being laid off by the thousands. It took me about a month to write it. It's been brewing in my mind for the last couple of years. I spent about two weeks recording it.

    Lyrics
Well it looks like I'll be late again now baby
Don't you know that I've got way too much to do
All these people breathing down my neck now baby
I just can't tell you when I will be through
Got Deadlines that I've got to make
This work was do out yesterday
I wish that I could take a break
And spend some time with you

There's no rest for the weary, and there isn't much to gain, but I think that I've got everything to lose

They've got people running scared down there now baby
They're wondering if they're gonna to get the boot
After everything I've put into this baby
I think there's still a chance they'll cut me loose
    Working hard just doesn't pay
They get rid of you anyway
    I see it almost everyday
I don't know what to do

There's no rest for the weary, and there isn't much to gain, but I think that I've got everything to lose

I'm thinking 'bout the good old days baby
When working hard was all you had to do
To make a living wage and raise a family
Those days are gone and I feel I've been used
    The corporations seized control
    While politicians sold their soul
And the working stiff has paid the price again

There's no rest for the weary, and there isn't much to gain, but I think that I've got everything to lose

    (Refrain)
    No nest for the weary,
    There isn't much to gain,
    No Rest for the weary
    Got everything to lose
