    Story Behind the Song
"Going Merrily in Circles, Here and There and Back Again, All Along the Way, Forever is Today..."

My friend Kyle Roseborough and I were heading out of town for a week is soaking in Gila Wilderness hot springs. He said, as we were leaving town, "sure is good to see this town in the rearview mirror". I agreed, and then realized that he had given me a hook for a new song. He claimed it was a cliche he had heard elsewhere, so didn't want credit. Thanks to whoever made it up. Recorded April 3, 1999.

    Lyrics
    Take me away from here,
I want to see this town in the rearview mirror.
And when we've had a taste of the whole wild world,
    we'll surely return...

And we'll come see you down on the farm,
The hallowed ground of your hometown,
    I've been away so long.
And when we have us a taste of the whole wild world,
    we'll surely return...

And say we learned a thing or two on the road,
and it sure is good to be back home.
And when we have us a taste of the whole wild world,
we'll surely return... and say we learned.

    Break

Would you like to go with me,
there is so much in the world to see.
And when we have us a taste of the whole wild world,
    we'll surely return...

And we'll come see you down on the farm,
The hallowed ground of your hometown,
    I've been away so long.
And when we have us a taste of the whole wild world,
    we'll surely return...

And say we learned a thing or two on the road,
and it sure is good to be back home.
And when we have us a taste of the whole wild world,
we'll surely return... and say we learned
