    Story Behind the Song
My motivation for this song was as usual, my inner/subconscious feelings, getting inside the head of a character and breaking the words down so that they could apply to more than one topic. I wrote the song at work in mid-2000 on a break, the music and tempo came into my head as i wrote the chorus, the verses came after. I actually wrote the music 6 months later in 2001. The guitar took 3 takes (the last 2 are in the song), vocals I did in 1 take (added a second layer but it is mixed-WAY down and barley noticeable). The rest of the song was sequenced in Reason, all instruments were hand-crafted or tweaked including the drums and the main drum beat. Loops were added later to fill out the sound only (and heavy use of FX makes them unique).

    Lyrics
    aching head delerious pain
light stabs through the hazy grey
    aching...bleeding...hurting...dying

    [Chorus]
the sins of the fallen their debt repaid
black smoke rising from a plastic grave
the sins of the fallen debt paid in full
    their tragic fate was inevidable

stepping over the remains of the fallen
    nothing left but fading memories
    down...broken...smoldering...dissolving

    [Chorus]

the pinnacle of decay, a quiet despair
    bodies line the streets
    nothing left but broken hardware
