Story Behind the Song
I had been socked in with three weeks straight of winter rain in Waiakea Uka, above Hilo town. Just about when I was going to crack up, the muse gave me this song to make friends with the rain. Now I love it, and never feel bad or complain.
Lyrics
Rain, rain, rain, rain, pouring down, tears of angels touch the ground,
See the rainbow, they are happy now, Rain, rain, rain, rain, pouring down.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, pouring down, gonna get me a boat before I drown,
Gonna row that boat right out of this town,
Rain, rain, rain, rain, pouring down.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, from the sky, Gonna float my boat on by and by,
Washed down the river and out in the sea, Rain, rain, rain, is dissolving me.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, falling down, tears of angels touch the ground,
See the rainbow, they're happy now. Rain, rain, rain, rain, falling down.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, drippy drops, emerald dew on mushroom tops,
Misty moisture in the air, rain, rain, rain, rain, everywhere.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, happy rain, clucking the duckies in the sugarcane,
Happy go lucky, croaking the frogs, in the rain, rain, rain, making pollywogs.
Rain, rain, rain, on my windowpane, sleepy, dreamy day.
Pitter patter on the roof, takes my cares away. Oh, oh, oh, oh.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, splishy splash, painting green upon the grass,
Painting blue upon the sea, rain makes flowers, rain makes trees.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, then the sun. Light and rain make the rainbow come,
See the rainbow! they're happy now, tears of angels falling down.
Rain, rain, rain, rain pouring down.
Rain, rain, rain, rain, falling, falling down.
