Story Behind the Song
I was walking out to my car to go to work one morning and there was a Robin on the fence. I said, "Hello Mr. Robin Red Breast."
I got in my car and picked up my tape recorder and started writing this song. I think Spring does bring new hope and a rejuvenation. I listened to some tapings of a robin's call and tried to whistle it on the recording. I hope it lifts your spirits.
Lyrics
MR. ROBIN
By Linda McKeeth © 5/22/02
Hello Mr. Robin Red Breast.
Have you brought me better times?
Hello Mr. Robin Red Breast.
Yeah, I think things are gonna be fine.
Winter's always followed by Spring,
And easier times it brings.
You may think winter's lasting too long,
But Mr. Robin will sing his song.
I know all the sayings.
It's just around the bend.
It's darkest before the dawn.
A robin is the first sign of Spring.
Mr. Robin sing your song.
Make it loud and long.
I'm hanging on to every note.
Your song gives me hope.
Hello Mr. Robin Red Breast.
Have you brought me better times?
Hello Mr. Robin Red Breast.
Yeah, I think things are gonna be fine.
I got me a new outlook.
A few warm days is all it took.
Funny how that happens,
When winter ends and Spring begins.
Spring brings showers,
That make things new,
Baby animals and flowers.
The sun shines away the blues.
I know that Spring can't stay,
I'm gonna soak up each ray,
And take some of Spring with me
To that next wintery day.
Hello Mr. Robin Red Breast.
Have you brought me better times?
Hello Mr. Robin Red Breast.
Yeah, I think things are gonna be fine.
