	Story Behind the Song So, I was at my soon-to-be girlfriend's house and she shot me down, saying something about how she wasn't ready for a relationship. I knew she'd be calling me, but I just needed someone to talk to. I drove around to all my friend's houses at about 2 A.M. but none of their lights were on. I was listening to Pedro the Lion's album "It's Hard to Find a Friend," and I decided to write a poem using that title. I drove up to the old Primary Children's Hospital's front steps in the Avenues and looked out over the valley in the rain. By the way, she did call. Lyrics I have few friends and only two understand me. One's not a real friend; he listens but doesn't talk much. The other lives in Maryland so he doesn't even listen. There's another who thinks he knows but he's dead wrong again. Of the others, one has a girlfriend turning 21 tonight, three are sleeping, and the rest just don't care at all. I've been used; I've been down; I've said "fuck 'em all" and walked away. So I'm just waiting for her call. I know it's coming. But I'm so tired. I really need some sleep tonight. But still I'm waiting.
