Sometimes the path of least resistance isnt necessarily the easiest. A song about meeting someone, not doing anything about it and learning to live with the regrets.

    Story Behind the Song
I always thought it was a myth but some songs really do write themselves. Written in about an hour in a hotel room in Durham after a bottle of wine and a pizza.

    Lyrics
    Ships in the night
    That old cliché
It wasn't meant to happen anyway.
    But it did,
    And I am lost.
    I am lost.

    Too late in life
    All choices made.
    Yet still I am afraid.

    We drank some wine
    And spoke of life
And each minute seemed an eternity.
    And the tragedy
Is that it will not come again.

    For I am married
    I have children
There's a hundred miles between us

    We talked of work
    We talked of children
We spoke of nothing of great consequence
    Or significance
    Yet everything has changed
    Everything is very different now.

    We only danced
    Never kissed
    And I cherish every moment

    You have a child
    Someone to love
There's a hundred miles between us

    I will survive
    Life will go on
And the hundred miles between us
    Will remain
    Will remain.

We made our choices long ago
We took our chances long ago
We danced our dances long ago
We chose our partners long ago

We burnt our bridges long ago
We built our cages long ago
The game was over long ago
    So long ago.

    Can anyone hear laughing?
    Can anyone hear laughing?
    Can anyone hear laughing?
    Can anyone hear laughing?
