Story Behind the Song
The term "Horizontal Refreshments" originated in the old west. As in, "I'm going to the whorehouse for some Horizontal Refreshments." This tune cis really about getting past 3rd base.most of it was written on Christmas Day 1996 by myself and Moon Pie Curtis. Recorded in New Orleans in 1999
Lyrics
Horizontal Refreshments, for all the guys in the band
were gonna turn the backstage into, a concession stand
I seen you out in left field, hiding behind the walls
you been such a good sport girl, retrieving my foul balls
my foul balls
Horizontal Refreshments, for all the girls on the team
I know yer sweeter than bear meat honey, like something out of a dream
I’m putting on the hustle, as I round third base
when I slide into home plate, I swear I get a little dirt on my face
you know I get a little dirt on my face
put me in coach, I’m ready to play, today
look at me, I can be c-c-c-c
solo
Horizontal Refreshments, I can’t get enough
practice meets at midnight, and yer coach is Cardinal Fluff
you see me standing here upon the stage, pickin’ on my guitar
step to the dugout, grab a pickle out of the jar
