This is the song that Ian Anderson picked to play at his show. I came up on stage and played guitar and sang it with him.

    Story Behind the Song
This song has nothing to do with me... whahaha. I wrote it about an ex-girlfriend of mine's ex boyfriend... did you follow that. He was very self centered and too dumb to realize it. The staring into the mirror for hours part?.. yea, that's what he did. Every morning.. FLEX BABY FLEX!!!

    Lyrics
    Shallow

You seem to know me a lot better than I do
You’ve got so much to say about what wrong with me
I’m afraid to ask you what’s right
Why don’t you tell me why I act like this
Why don’t you tell me why I’m afraid to give in
Why don’t you tell me while I kiss your lips
How you fall in love with me again

I stare into the mirror for hours
I talk the best about myself
and don’t give a damn about no one else
I steal all the covers and I never pull my weight
Well maybe I’m just way too great

    Maybe I’m shallow
Maybe you were right with what you said
Maybe I’m the only one in my little world
Who I’d like to call my friend
Maybe I can stand up here and judge you all
And not give a damn about the lies I’ve said
    Maybe I’m shallow
Or maybe you’re just messing with my head

Why do I always have to tell you twice?
Why is everything of mine automatically yours
but with you I gotta ask real nice
Why do you drink so much and always come home late?
Maybe you just can’t understand a mind that works this way

    Maybe I’m shallow
Maybe you were right with what you said
Maybe I’m the only one in my little world
Who I’d like to call my friend
Maybe I can stand up here and judge you all
And not give a damn about the lies I’ve said
    Maybe I’m shallow
Or maybe you’re just messing with my head

I steal all the covers and I never pull my weight
Well maybe I’m just way too great

    Maybe I’m shallow
Maybe you were right with what you said
Maybe I’m the only one in my little world
Who I’d like to call my friend
Maybe I can stand up here and judge you all
And not give a damn about the lies I’ve said
    Maybe I’m shallow
Maybe you were right with what you said
Maybe I’m the only one in my little world
Who I’d like to call my friend
Maybe I can stand up here and judge you all
And not give a damn about the lies I’ve said
    Maybe I’m shallow
Or maybe you’re just messing with my head
