If you like Peter Gabriel's version, then click away. It sounds nothing like it, but it's worth a listen, wouldn't you say? |

Story Behind the Song
This one came out of nowhere. I mean, picture this. You're sitting in your garage (for those of you who don't have garages, picture yourself surrounded by walls, one faint incandescent bulb above you, and a roll-up door that requires a pulling motion to open it,) and you decide to start rockin out on your guitar. Suddenly, you just start playing chords you love, and you find yourself singing a melody that you've never heard before. You like it. You like it so much that it's almost a part of you. That what this song felt like when I wrote it. It was incredibly tough hitting the high harmony in the end part of the song, might I add. This one took a whopping 3 and a half hours to record. A record for me.
Lyrics
The sun was down, and there you were
Right there in my eyes
Always watching, willing me
Right there in my eyes
And you don't see, but I can be the same
Take me by the hand and guide all of my ways
All of my ways
The wind has passed, and I still feel
everything I was
loving nothing all at once
everything I was
But you tell me, I can be like you
To take the blame and hide my pride
I can be like you
-----------Chorus-----------------
And it's takin' too much time
To be livin' this brief life
All I wanted was your strength and mercy
Right there in your eyes
And I need a second chance
To be everything you want
Holding on to strength and mercy
Right there in your eyes
^^^^^^^^^^^^^Bridge^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I'm burnin' up, my life is done
I can't go on like this
I leave it all behind
