Story Behind the Song
I wrote this on a lunch break from Apple. It was created as fast as I could play it. The lyric was inspired by the world's desire for profit. It really has a Lennon/McCartney feel. The ost fun recording this was doing the bass line. I'm starting to develop a bit of a style on the bass. The vocals were an easy one take. The first to be promoted, this song has received a good deal of airplay in the U.S.
Lyrics
Trickle Down
Copyright 2002 by Stephen Teter
You say the margin's too tight
Well, all right
We wouldn't hurt your chance for success
Don't make any less
Than what you think you richly deserve
It's not your fault
There are hungry people
With a little luck they'll starve to death
It's not your fault
The system is crippled
With your trickle-down philosophies
Ah
Oo oo oo ooh
Your trickle down philosophies
Oo oo oo ooh
Won't you trickle, trickle, trickle, trickle
Down to me
Ah
Your best defense
Has always been a potent offense
Well, now you're offensive
And I'm so sick of hearing these words
It's not your fault
There are hungry people
With a little luck they'll starve to death
It's not your fault
The system is crippled
With your trickle-down philosophies
Ah
Oo oo oo ooh
Your trickle down philosophies
Oo oo oo ooh
Won't you trickle, trickle, trickle, trickle
Down to me
Ah
It's not your fault your business is booming
When the corporations profit, you win
It's not your fault the people are losing
In this trickle-down society
Oo oo oo ooh
Your trickle-down economies
Won't you trickle trickle trickle down to me
Your trickle down societies
Your trickle-down economies
Your trickle-down philosophies
Nothing trickle-trickles down to me
