Story Behind the Song
This song is about recognising that part of somebody else that they themselves don't see. It's kind in a way but its also strange in that it sucessfully attempts to locate that special quality in another person and extricate it into harmony and movement.
Sanity is about going through a time in your life when you haven't got the things that others have and through visual recognition of the items of ownership and acknowledgement of the possessions that others are often too willing to have seen. It's about that guilt feeling that you get when you get down and when you are lower on the socio economic scale then you start to fish for creative impetus to keep you solid in your own personal conviction that what you have is good enough.
Sanity is about feeling a litte glim about yourself and thinking that I realised that glim was also about glam and thats related to rock music and thats it as far as I can tell.
The songs lyrics portray a sense of verbal violence, the same level of verbal trash that you see and often hear, but it's also about having the circumstances of others being spelled out to you. You know, some people just don't want to brag about themselves, but they can't help but shed their perceived sucess and that hope is that some if not a little more than some of it might rub off onto you.
But sucess isn't like dust and it sticks stronger than any other substance that I could abuse, so I must say that others success doesn't actually rub off onto me or even the place that I am living in. In fact the success just sticks to me through natural attraction but it doesn't last very long, and that shows that the success that most people enjoy is short lived and often very shallow.
I sing a lyric about touching souls and this really reflects the human face. You know how sometimes you have decision makers who are portrayed as being the decision makers and they're often influenced by the real decision makers who we never see. Well! It's like that, it's that face of the nation, face of the station, face of this whole freakin thing that gets my goat. It pulls on me and pushes my pulse along and gets the brain thinking.
Right, Like remember the song by Metallica One. Well that had a video that showed this bloke who had no arms or legs he was just a body, but he had a face. Well that face was a human face and it had all the living attachments that you'll get on any complete person.
Well when you go through a time like he did and you never see, touch or have normal conversation like he did it can really lead you up the wall and over the top. You crash and then crash again and it freakin well hurts. Because once you intergrate with the people after something like that then you really do get to suffer what it is to learn about others and they let you know it, because the soul has a beautiful way of detecting what is right and what is wrong.
So Sanity is being balanced like a ledger, but having all the right numbers on the left side of your thought processes and having all the letters of the alphabet on the right side of your thinking patterns and if that gets reversed and you try and go forward then your behaviour can appear glim to other people and they'll reflect that on you, if to serve no other purpose other than to feel better about themselves.
But it's soft inside the brain OK, ask any surgeon, but the grey matter is actually getting harder as you grow older and thats what its all about. The thoughts that surround you are actually your imagination trying to convince in the mind that the world really is wonderful, when in fact, it's the inner thoughts that are trying to tell you when to dampen your attitude and when to spark at the moment.
Every person has like a candle light inside the mind and if the winds of thought are strong it can easiily get blown out and that leaves a darkness and thats undesirable.
Sanity is about having that candle burning and flickering with a real enough flame, but never having too many wishful thoughts that blow around inside enough to create the wind to snuff you out completely.
The song is truly amazing in that it really does rally up all that in you when you give it the thought that it needs. Like you know when you are just sitting still and people walk past you and they have a certain glow about them around the face, well that glow comes from being healthy and thats sane, but when that glow gets real red hot then you know they've gotta move a little faster in the world to get to where they know they have to get to before the winds start blowing and the thoughts go out of tempo.
It's that moment when you is sitting there and that stinking feeling at your feet comes up and tells you that you've gotta get up to their speed of attitude if you want to see past what they are doing, and being the inquisitive type of person that we all are, we have to have that speed to get to that point, especially if what you want to do is to retain sanity and kindly find some peace of mind and happiness in what you are.
Lyrics
I've seen a side of you that not even you knew. I've been through suffering here.
I've been in the darkness, that no one understands and I felt that crap rammed force fed to me.
I touched that many souls but none as knew as you and I've been caressed with so much feeling.
Speaking no more lies, now I'm free for life and now it is time to touch my body.
Sanity.
Are you too blind to see
There's no repressed pain here
Deeper now and defenseless
All this life is sanity
Theres been a month alone of tearful painful nights when I cried out for sleep
I was in danger to myself, when that anger burned and I saw what it was and it crushed my mind.
Now I want to take your soul and breathe life into you and making life not emptiness.
I give it all to you, like virginity, respect for you and not sexual sickness.
