Story Behind the Song
This song is about wanting, asking, stating your thoughts and feelings, tighting up your way of going about getting things done, inviting input from outside, negating the tough and harsh criticism and going forward on issues you believe require your devoted attention.
Unspoken Words is about saying those things that need to be said about what you know but have held off from saying for quite sometime.
The song is about letting it out and letting others get inside your head to get the engines of thought ticking along again, particularly after a period of inactivity.
It's OK to have an opinion on something and quite often our thoughts after what we have said carry us a mighty long way from where we were, but then once we settle in for the evening, the nights become many and then the very cause that we persued can slip away just like a boat at sea.
The lyrics are actually speaking from that experience of feeling like ones opinions and thoughts have become outdated and how important it becomes to get that renewel and the way we see that refreshing of ones circumstance in the area of thought is to gain further encouragement.
Some people just go for a run and they feel more refreshed, but anyone who hasn't taken a jog in a long time would realise after the renewed excursion along the road or through the park that a feeling of the energy and challenge comes along. Problem is that it requires a committment to keep going and continue jogging and that feeling of achievement gets harder to reach, but to keep in the inner god satisfied you have to keep on jogging and do it faster or more consistently to achieve any real result that can be thought of as on going.
Well this song is like that jog, or even like that job that you start and you paid a little for it so you keep on doing it until either the give you the flick or you find another job or job offer, or you just decide to leave. Whatever be the case, you have to stay with the job because it has provided you with a lifeforce of income and self esteem. But yet there are times when you feel like leaving and you know that by human right of passage you can leave wheneever you want but if you do, then that achievement that was made through your attendance and diligence will slip further away and it gets harder to handle that thought that comes with seeing something slipping away. So like that ship at sea, you have to let up the anchor and get sailing with your thoughts and emotions and keep them converting into tangible goods.
For me, those tangibles are words and things that get said and thats what this song attempts to enshrine within the very lyrics driven on by the music of the band.
There are so many things that just don't get said and thats really sad because there are so many things that we have in common with each other in this world and if we let it slide, then we've really let go of something that is better than a light globe, better than river and gorging much deeper than anything else. Words.
Words are a form of human expression and they meet with the mouth, the mind and the hands for those that write and the eyes meet the words and all of that is so very vital to our well being. I know this is starting to sound like a motivational topic, but it's really about getting pissed off at a state you might be in that you want to change and changing it through words.
Words for many are in the mind and if the words are all right, then the mind is too so that makes them very powerful and to keep them turning around in your mind and taking you through and over the hard times that come your way the words must link and have important meaning but all that being true for me and the band, one other thing should be realised. Words are fine, but its the unspoken words, that part of your mind that isn't linked to the alphabet that really makes like interesting.
Lyrics
Wasted, wasting away and nothing to say
Anger is gone and your free at last
Soilder, sold out disgust and emotional rust
Trust what you say and don't waste away
Taking off your dirty mask now
You can see and see it clearly
Unspoken to his ideals
Unspoken to what he feels
Teacher, teach her to be and teach her to see.
Teach her the real value in life.
Listen, hear what is said and don't be misled.
Open your eyes you are alive
Fighting, fight for your mind and do not be blind.
Regret what you saw and you'd see
Dreaming, visuals of truth nothing but truth
Reject the foolish lies of me
Taking off your dirty mask now
You can see it and see it clearly
Unspoken, to his ideals
Unspoken to what he feels
