Story Behind the Song
This song was written around '81 or so, although it was never performed until '84. The song was inspired by a girl in high school. It was one of those situations where - when she was available, I wasn't;when I was available, she wasn't. We really liked each other a lot, but just rotten timing. Specifically, the song refers to a "sock-hop" that a prior band of mind played at our high school and seeing this girl watch me play. She was really upset because I had a girlfriend at the time. As she sat near a corner of the gym crying, we both knew the timing just wasn't right. [Comments by Mike Carper]
Lyrics
I see you in the corner, you're sittin' alone.
Why do you sit there cryin'? Do you wanna go home?
I know who you are. And you used to be mine.
You can dance with me now baby, I'll show you a real good time.
