Sweet pop-guitar and a little bit of wah make for a simple, bittersweet song. |

Story Behind the Song
Motivation....well after going to a local concert I realized that I really missed a good friend of mine who had recently moved. I went home, sat down, and wrote the whole thing in about 20 minutes. Recording on the other hand....lets not go there. Its your basic "love lost" story. Kinda sad.
Lyrics
You tell me that you're going places.
Why didn't it occur to me that it would mean That you'd be leaving me for higher places? Oh you're so far away in your Rainy City.
You tell that you're going somewhere.
I tell you that I'm gonna miss you (do you care?).
I know you'll never be lonely.
Oh you'll just hide away in your Rainy City.
[chorus] Who's gonna be there to hold your umbrella?
I'm not gonna be there in ugly weather.
I just do not know why you'd ever want to leave me.
You could have had your life and stayed here with me.
But instead you left me for your Rainy City.
You say you're gonna be somebody.
Walking around in your Gucci suits and all the paparazzi.
Screw guitars you should be strumming me.
I see you've made a name in your Rainy City.
You say you're never gonna change.
How could hope to go away and try and stay the same?
Now that your goals are space needle high in the sky,
You're gonna forget me in your Rainy City.
[chorus]
You tell me that you're going places.
Why didn't it occur to me that it would mean,
That you'd be leaving me for higher places? Oh you're so far away in your Rainy City.
You say you're gonna be with me.
Did you ever check and see, make sure it'd be,
Okay with me if I went and took my leave?
So we could hide away in our Rainy City, Hide away in our Rainy City.
