Story Behind the Song
I am top poster on the IRC. I've been for an eternity. No one even comes close--I've doubled the amount of the closest contender.
Joey Michaels made my posting #2,000 a hot item in improvisation in 2001 by writing about it on Improvland.com.
I wrote this song as some kind of event surrounding my 4,000th post on a night between my 3,999th post and my 4,000th. First I laid the beat with my mouth, then I rapped over it. I lost the beat at the end of the song. Maybe one day I'll re-record it.
I went back and dubbed in sounds appropriate to sound of the words in the rap. There is mention of Eminem in this song, because someone needs to pick a fight with him and that might as well be I. There are references to a 12-year-old named Tereyn who had an infamous appearance on the IRC, my hated nemesis Frank Gondorchin, youngcat's early rivalry with me over ppd, as well as mentions of my getting webmaster mullaney to wear a BK crown at Harold Night at UCB.
All done like a badass. Even though I am far from a badass for having 4,000 posts.
Lyrics
i used to do improv but now i don't
i know a few people, i got there goat
i took four classes at ucb
8.24 ppd
that's posts-per-day, you say, "what's that?"
i didn't really know 'til this guy youngcat
got real pissed off when i lapped him with my posts
we like hot butter with our breakfast toast*
#2 in '01 on improvland
when i slammed my post, #2000
and just when you think i can't yes-and
i slam another post, #4000
* apologies to the sugarhill gang
