Story Behind the Song
I often played Leroy Anderson's "A Trumpeter's Lullaby" while a High School student. I enjoyed many of Leroy Anderson's works. But, this was my personal favorite.
Now that I am playing trumpet again, I wanted to present the song to those who had heard me play it in concert, as well as for my new cyber music friends.
I would like to dedicate this to my High School Band Teacher, Marlys Stein, and to Marion Ohrmann, who so patiently accompanied me with this song.
This arrangement is a derivative of the same sheet music that we used in High School. It is entitled "A Trumpeter's Lullaby for Bb Trumpet Solo with Piano Accompaniment " and was published by Mills Music, copyright 1950. Instead of the piano, I have derived an accompanying arrangement featuring a modest quartet of Oboe, Bassoon, Cello and 12-string guitar.
