I wanted to pay homage to one of the classical greats, so I modernized this little Handel tune. (Note: I like to think of it as a "recomposition" and not a remix, since the original song's structure has been changed pretty noticeably. I doubt Handel will even care enough to roll in his grave.) |
CD: Come to my house, I'll burn you a copy.
Label: None has yet recognized my obviously unparalleled talent.
Credits: Well once again, I'm the only author, but I guess I should give some major credit to Handel, Pink Floyd, the Dead, and Phish for being so sampleable. |
Story Behind the Song
My younger sister thought it would sound cool if someone could combine classical music and electronica. I thought that might be nice and started listening for material. My older sister always listens to classical while she studies (she's in grad school now) and had Handel on one day- I liked what I heard and decided to make it the basis of my new project (which ended up being the midterm for my Reason/Acid class btw). I guess it came out okay, but I'm still looking for a more polished overall sound. Maybe if I gave it more time... I learned several things from doing this project that I hope will help me to improve in the future: 1. It's easier to pan mono samples than stereo, 2. It's hard to make a really solid drum track unless you have a real live drummer, 3. Simpler is often better, and 4. I hate mixing!
Lyrics
One of these days I'll write a song with lyrics. I can imagine someone rapping over this one, but I'm too much of a whitey to try it myself.
