CD: Jim Ricci 5 Song Demo
Credits: words and music by Jim Ricci, Adam Kroft on lead acoustic guitar

    Story Behind the Song
The song was inspired by a red-headed girl in Ouray, Colorado who was closing up the cafe me and my buddy were in on a trip across the country. She truly was as a sight to behold.

    Lyrics
    Closing Time
words & music by Jim Ricci

the candles in the window shine as brightly as her eyes
she moves with careful steps, I hold my breath as she walks by
she pays no mind to me yet she is what I’ve stayed here for
right now I’m content to simply watch her glide across the floor

    [ch]
Well, it’s closing time and I really must be going
she has what’s mine and all without her knowing that I’ve
come so far, it seems now just to reach her

the rays of light from up above turn her golden hair all a-glow
no one else seems to be watching but of this girl my eyes can’t let go
a glass is raised to clear blue eyes that stare intently
and I can’t help but think what if I looked into those eyes and whispered gently

    [ch]
that it’s closing time and we really must be going
you have what’s mine and all without you knowing that I’ve
come so far, it seems now just to reach you

    [bridge]
and it pains me to leave with the thought that never again
will my eyes rest upon you as comfortably as they did tonight and I
don’t want to go outside in the cold and snow alone
but I’ve come too far to stop now

I’m under her spell and so the floor is hard to find
I breathe her air just long enough to completely lose my mind
I should go, I know, but my thoughts move slow and I just can’t pull away
so I think I’ll have one more drink and I turn around to stay

    [ch]
but it’s closing time and I really must be going
I guess she’ll have what’s mine and all without her knowing that I’ve
come so far, and now I must leave her
