Story Behind the Song
James Hughes was a proud member of the Wakefield High School
(Arlington, Virginia) class of 1980. When he wasn't playing
trumpet in the marching band, or going off to see a New England
concert, or singing Cheap Trick and Cars covers with his own band,
he wandered around saying "Football...you bet!" I never did find out
why. The original version of this song was completed in April 1999,
and I've fiddled with it off and on ever since. This is probably my
favorite among the "Digital Judge" songs.
