	Story Behind the Song I wrote this song just after Memorial Day. My dad was visiting from Illinois. We watched a special on PBS about veterans. My dad shared his thoughts about how there is no way to repay some of the sacrifices that were made. My dad is a veteran of World War II. He served in Germany. My son-in-law is in the Air Guard. I hope I've made it clear to my dad how much I appreciate that he fought to keep our country free. I called up my son-in-law to tell him thanks for his service to our country. He said no one had ever told him that before. I wrote this song to remind us to say thank you and not to be silent any more. Bill made the drum cadence by muting his guitar strings with a towel wadded up behind them and then beating out the rhythm. Pretty neat effect, huh?
