Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song in the key of "D," originally an idea I jotted down in a notebook when I first started to write. A year later, when I decided to record the album, I took out my notebook and there was only one verse, but it was enough to help me complete the song. It was interesting to look back and see where my head was at a year ago, since the song was primarily about myself.
Lyrics
Love, don't leave me high
Like some desperate, lonely fool
with this twinkle in my eye
Here I stand again,
with a new day facing me
another chance to fly
Will you find your way?
Are you waiting there for me,
do you have something to say?
Save this lonely soul
Won't you pick me up again,
and teach me how to shine
'cause I'm only one,
but I know someday
I won't be anymore
I'm only one,
and some day I'll understand
just what I was waiting for
Floating out to sea,
now I'm wading in a circle
Love please rescue me
Take me home again.
Won't you wake me when it's over,
and show me how to be
Love, don't leave me high
