Story Behind the Song
The history and tradition of these Battle cries strengthen our resolve, courage and sacrifice in America's never ending battles to ensure freedom throughout the world. We all have different way to respond to what happened in New York. I use to live in Queens in New York City, Glen Cove and Locust Valley out on Long Island. This is just my heart felt response. I found myself doing the song over and over as it brought up old memories of my Dad who was MIA in World War 2 in the North Atlantic and He shipped out of New York on that Trip, that he volunteered for. He had a draft exempt civil service job but wanted to do his part. That was his decision that he made and paid for with his life. The song was really dedicated to all those who lost their lives in the service of America from the Alamo to Normandy.
Lyrics
The grim Reaper came to Washington, The Big Apple too
Left behind too many dead, an angry Red White and Blue.
Rallying cries of America echo through the years
purified by those who died, our Country’s prayer, Children’s tears.
God is with us, Go on we must, Know no fear.
Remember the Alamo, Remember Pearl Harbor too,
Remember the beachheads of Normandy flowing blood, Red white and Blue.
Remember the World Trade Center towering in the sun
Remember ground Zero on
that September Morn,
9/11/2001, 9/11/2001
It was a clear September Morning scene
New Yorkers going to work for dreams
9/11/2001 9/11/2001
A young lady in the world Trade Center
Could not believe her eyes
A jet plane was bearing down on her
She was bound to die.
9/11/2001 9/11/2001
The second plane did the same
Pierced the other tower,
A Flaming silver arrow
Burning some alive
9/11/2001 9/11/2001
Brave firemen, policemen too
Rushed in to do what they must do.
Courage met death in an avalanche, of fire steel and stone.
9/11/2001 9/11/2001
The grim Reaper came to Washington, The Big Apple too

If it’s war you want, It’s war you’ll get,
You’re damned to die with no regret
What goes around, comes around,
You’re day to die will come
You’re hell bound when you die
The grimreaper was your best friend,
Death walked by your side
Destruction followed in your wake now you’re
Hell bound when you die, Hell bound when you die.
9/11/2001 9/11/2001
On September11, 2001 America stood united in it’s sorrow,
Strengthened in it’s resolve, that Terrorism shall be over come
Remember 9/11/2001
