Story Behind the Song
There's a great story behind this song, and I hope Foe doesn't hurt me for
posting it. A song for his girlfriend Nicole, originally titled "8 inch East
Coast" (this is no joke), it's basically a desire to be with the girl he loves.
Based on an imaginary car ride Forrest took Nicole on while sitting on a street
curb, they went to Anappolis to see the boats, the water and the State House.
Even though they are apart right now, Forrest is in Boston, Nicole is in
Maryland, wherever he is, she's there too.
And who says romantics are a dying breed!
Lyrics
Close your eyes
We're almost there
Look at the water
Look at the boats
People walking on the waves
Quiet with a single crash
Shadows follow
The fingers up and down your arm
Slightly touching
Lightly touching
Comfortable in your breathing
In love with your breath
Annapolis is over there
Right next to the Statehouse
Philly's not much farther
So Boston must be here
Right next to you
Light takes over
The people in the water
Paling their skins
Used to make concrete
Now it sells Thai food
Sometimes I'm insecure
Sometimes I'm oversensitive
I can't write this script, I know
But can make the scene unforgettable
Close your eyes
We're almost there
Look at the water
Look at the boats
People walking on the waves
Quiet with a single crash
