Story Behind the Song
Rob sang me this tune a capella shortly after he wrote it. The opening bit was so cool and just a little bit off -- I really dug it, so later when we were putting originals together (and I was smoking like a freakin chimney) we added it to the set. It went over really well with audiences, so we got his permission to include it on the album. People say it's "catchy".
Lyrics
Gotta get up, gotta get out, gotta get movin'
Gotta light up, gotta smoke up, gotta get groovin'
Darkness in my eyes, shadows in my soul
My hands scarred from drivin' those nails
Another Nail in my Coffin
Goin down the staircase 'bout an hour or so ago
Lean against a streetlamp in the rain in the street below
Hot breath in the night
Breathing foul air
My hands scarred from drivin' those nails
Another Nail in my Coffin
People know Nicholas, he's the man from up the street
Me and Nic are friends, but what he's sellin ain't so sweet
It's just like hot lead
Might as well be a gun
My hands scarred from drivin' those nails
Another Nail in my Coffin
Gotta get up, gotta get out, gotta get movin'
Gotta light up, gotta smoke up, gotta get groovin'
Darkness in my eyes, shadows in my soul
My hands scarred from drivin' those nails
Another Nail in my Coffin
Gotta Stop
Gotta get out while I still can
Gotta stop playin' sidekick to the Man
I don't have nothin' left
I don't got a lot of time
My hands scarred from drivin' those nails
Another Nail in my Coffin
Gotta stop
Gotta stop
Gotta stop
