Every classical composer has his or her magnum opus. This is mine - my first symphony. It may not run any longer than 15 minutes when finished, but as time goes on I may improve and lengthen it. This is the second movement of five - more information can be found in the song story. |

Story Behind the Song
This is the third part in a series of movements, chronicling the discovery of a new world.
My most ambitious work to date, in the works for three years running. Not that I've been three years making it, rather, for three years it has been 'evolving,' changing in quality as my music expertise grew. More and more melodies are being introduced, and very early on I decided this song should be an opus to the discovery of a new world. More specifically, to my own country, found a thousand years ago.
The song is divided into a few movements, like those found in symphonies. This is the third.
ULTIMA THULE - Aðsigling (The Approach)
Their mission finally accomplished, after having spent many days at sea in constant doubt and fear, the crew happily make their way towards the distant shores.
Their progress is slow, yet one filled with glee. The women and children join the men on deck, and look excited upon their future home.
Day eventually turns to night, and the crewmen prepare for rest, planning to head towards land in the morning. The Aurora Borealis dances magnificently in the sky - and the crew is filled with renewed hope for a better life.
Little do they know that when it nears day, they will once more need all their strength and courage ...
