Story Behind the Song
This song fell into place almost effortless. A number of my songs have a western Motif especially the ones involving Bush the cowboy President. There were was far more time involved in finishing the effort. This is to be one songs on my first MP3.COM album called Bush Whacking. I was not sure about the title at first and considered Bush Whacked for what he has done to us. In as much as this is a creative response this is payback time. Bend over Bush and be prepared to be whacked with a little good natured truthful criticism. If I kept all the lyric and chord changes notes and papers for the songs I have written could wall paper a large home with my efforts. The arrangement have room for improvement. I have been really burning the midnight candles writing with a passion for peace a hatred for war. I am doing this under the duress of being the primary caregiver for my 99 year old Mother and being a little more fatigued and run down than usual. I feel it is important to share these as soon as possible n hope of slowing down the “Stampede to War”
Lyrics
There’s a Thundering Herd of cattle , Raising war clouds of sand
Fear is blinding their vision, while mistrust cover our land
Dust clouds blinded the cattle that followed , Blindly they pushed ahead.
Plunging off the cliffs of war, into the canyons of the dead
canyons of the dead
There’s a thundering herd of cattle In a wild stampede to war.
Driven by a reckless young cowboy, who never been to war before,
never been to war before.
He never felt the horror, the terror and the pain,
found in the eyes of a dying young soldier
Who never been to war before, who will never go to war again.
It’s not just our War drum President, we share the shame and blame too
Supporting a war that need not be, in the Name of the Red ,White and Blue.
in the Name of the Red ,White and Blue,
You raise the patriotic fervor, pushing your buttons of fear.
You sent our troops to foreign lands, while there’s random killings here,
By a former solder, who fought in the Gulf war, Was it more than it appeared?
Will hatred follow the tears, hatred follow the tears.
Your wars will create more hatred, More killings and home land strife
In the Mid- East your interest is oil, In America our interest is life.
In America our interest is life.
There’s a thundering herd of cattle In a wild stampede to war.
Being driven on by a reckless young cowboy who never been to war before
never been to war before
He never felt the horror, the terror and the pain,
found in the eyes of a dying young soldier,
Who never been to war before, who will never go to war again.
It’s not just our War Drums President, we share the blame and shame too
Supporting a war that need not be, in the Name of the Red ,White and Blue.
in the Name of the Red ,White and Blue. a war that need not be.
a war that need not be.
