Southern rock version of 12 bar blues. Includes obligatory guitar solo and rap at the end for a contemporary feel. If you're a redneck it's even danceable!Ĺ

    Story Behind the Song
Lyrics were written first. Started out as a "road song". Morphed into a tale of a drifter who wastes their life away. No preaching here, and we don't feel sorry for the character. We just observe. Rap at end was originally intended as bridge with different music than in this final version. It didn't work so I threw in the guitar solo and moved the rap to the end.

    Lyrics
Drive on down the devil's highway, search for good times, hope they last.
Drive all night and thru the next day, runnin' wild and drivin' fast.
Spend seven years to do it your way, seven years that have just passed.

Pull over by the railroad tracks, shoot some bottles with a gun.
Let your life slip through the cracks, convince yourself it's all good fun.
You’re hindin' out for seven years, seven years you're on the run.

    Bridge/Guitar Solo

Get out & walk while you still can, hum a sad song in your head.
Walk the line with eyes wide open, see the life that you have led.
The doc just gave you seven years, seven years until you're dead.

    Outro:

Days pass to weeks and months turn to years
Your life wastes away while you grind your gears
Like a snake you sh ed skin, but you can't shed tears
Now it's time to face the music, and to face your fears

You're a gambler rollin' dice, that's the life you've lead
That's the choice you made with no gun to your head
It's time to say goodnight because you've made your bed
You were born to loose and you've lived to be dead.

When you pulled the handle, up came lemons
You doubled down with all you had and lost with eleven
So don't pass go, cancel any plans for heaven
You threw your life away when you bet on Lucky Seven.r
