Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song after my dot com closed 3 months after relocating from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I felt pretty isolated and alone in a new city, let alone it being in San Francisco, the most expensive place to live in the country (at the time...)! But appreciating the people, places and experiences I had encountered along the way, I felt fortunate and that kept my spirits high during those empty times. It's difficult to know what to do with yourself after all that. Then, a year later, I met sweet Andy Luce and his brother Tom and found my music, a steady friend that has been quietly within me all my life.
Lyrics
Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever find a home
Been out here so long…on my own.
Don’t know if I can be understood at all
Seems like the world sometimes wants me to fall [into]
… the darkest shadows of myself
… the brightest light so I can see myself
Where do I go with all these choices?
I can’t stand still just waiting for you.
I’ve got to keep moving through
On my own
I sit alone at night … wonder what life’s about
Keeping my spirits high to live a day I’m proud of
I tell to myself, if I died tomorrow
I’ve loved and grieved, and I’ve felt the sorrow [of]…
Chorus
Life can turn on a dime
(it’s unpredictable)
You and I will, in time
(I wonder how I know)
be in a dream
or be here inbetween suffering
(and mending hearts)
You’re heavy on my mind
but like a whisper in a breeze
You’re not around,
but your strength surrounds me
I wish upon each night for you to appear
Bring me some piece of mind to all these fears [in the]…
Chorus
