	Story Behind the Song I wrote this song in memory of the Victims of the DC Sniper. My heart goes out to the families. I wrote and recorded this song in a day. I spent most of a recent Saturday on it. I did several different versions of the lead guitar parts before I decided on the slide version on this recording. I wanted to convey the sadness of this situation. Lyrics The kids stayed home from school today The cops are out all over town They're trying to catch this lunatic Who's been shooting people down Ordinary people, doing ordinary things, had no reason to believe Their lives were going to end today A senseless crime destroyed their dreams Another day, another dollar Just an ordinary deed Without reason, without warning A life is ended in the street A cowards retribution reaches out from the abyss to claim it's victim in the light Evil hides in shadows, too afraid to show it's face, always staying out of sight You took a life at random You broke somebody's heart I just can't begin to fathom How one soul could be so dark You deal the death card as if you were the hand of God But nothing's further from the truth You'll pay the price for all the evil that you've done, You'll burn in hell when this is through
