Story Behind the Song
This song was recorded two or three times in 2001, but never was actually "released." Finally after a year or so the demo has been re-recorded and finally a copy exists.
Lyrics
On a napkin from his pocket which pulled from in a rush
There grew an unwanted second and a branch reaching 4.
Oh holy, holy, as the water felt lonely,
On a temple in the street of no mans home.
Passing time will hold an arm,
like the bars hold his father and his faith in his son.
Take one forty to the lips of such a man,
when does it stop being healthy to drink one more
Now I didn’t know what the crazy man sold me but it worked
and I flew again.
I didn’t care for your tone when you told me
that I was alone again.
He spent the time staring at a blind man until the blind man said,
"Hey boy you’re spending too much time here"
Alone.
In this situation.
I think he had his wings.
Again though as he stormed when the lights grew tired
from watching over us that day.
The whole in his pockets dropped some nickels on the floor,
1-25-37 read his ticket from the store.
Now I didn’t know what the crazy man sold me but it worked and I flew again.
I didn’t care for your tone when you told me
that I was alone again.
I didn’t know what the crazy man sold me, but it worked.
Oh how it worked, and we were high for the first time in our lives.
One by one we felt safe from the danger.
One by one to Copperfield’s of gold.
One by one we could talk to the strangers.
I was last to make it home.
