One of Bob's songs, about discovering that you are your own dream... This is our most-rehearsed song ever, recorded live in our studio with very basic instrumentation: Bob's voice, a simple pattern on the Drumatix and three pairs of hands, playing the Prophet-5, Memorymoog, hand drum and live effects. The song could definitely fit in under 3 minutes, but we always conceived of it in this live "extended remix" format. |

Story Behind the Song
A vintage recording from the Sick Puppies cassette archive. Recorded live at our Harrison St. studio, June 1984, just before we decided to go multitrack (8-track Tascam) and a couple of years before MIDI and computers got into the act.
Lyrics
My sister told me that I was so good-looking that I should die, but why?
I'm so cute that when I look in the mirror, I must take a photo, of myself
When I was just about 3, my sister came up to me and said, "I want you"
By the time I turned 18, I discovered that I was my own dream
Can it be that I'm so vain?
Can it be that I'm just a pain?
Tell me that I'm really cute
Tell me that there is no substitute for me
