Story Behind the Song
"ASLEEP"
Just before nine o'clock on the morning of September 11, 2001, I sat on the deck at the back of our house having coffee and
conversation with my four-year old daughter Ava. Ava had just said, "We live in a beautiful world, don't we, dad?", when my wife Martha opened the door to the deck and said, "Adrian, I hate to disturb you but we're under a terrorist attack"!
By the end of the day, Martha and I had spent watching the disaster unfold and we knew Ava's "beautiful world" had changed forever.
As a recording artist and neophyte painter, my small offer of remembrance comes in the form of a this new song free for anyone to download and a recent painting I've done, both titled ASLEEP.
The lyric is a haiku poem:
One day you wake up
but you didn't even know
you were asleep.
Recorded at StudioBelew by Ken Latchney
Violin: Peter Hyrka
Cello: Gary Tussing
