Story Behind the Song
This is just an initial recording... it was done a few years back and I hope to have a much better one up in the future. The verses were inspired by various males in my life and soon took it's own life in this story of love and leaving.
Lyrics
You thought that your sheer strength had knocked me down
How happy did it make you feel when i slammed into the ground?
But how terribly convenient it was for you my sweet
That you were matched up with these fucking three inch heels
I don't get to make the rules, so yeah well fine, this time you win,
You may not want to book the re-match with my steel-toed Doc Martens.
I know
I say
That I can't do this
But I will make it through today
I know
I say
That you'll regret this
But I let things go your way
All the hope that I hold dearly, that this world is not all wrong
Is fading like the memory of this girl who once was strong.
Of all the love, that I had, I just can't give anymore,
You've taken it from my heart, to make room for your sword.
Though you've wounded, you haven't hurt me yet
I'm standing here before you, consider that a threat.
I know
I say
That you can't hurt me
But these tears give me away
I know
I say
That I don't love you
But my heart will not obey
As I pick up, piece by piece, chards of glass from off the floor
I understand that things won't change if just choose to ignore
All the shattered pieces in my hands reflect just what they see
So I plan out my escape as I get off of my knees
I know
I say
That you will grow up
But maybe it's too late
I know
I say
That I don't need anyone's help
But I still look up and pray
I know
I say
That I have moved on
But the memories never change
I know
I say
That I am new now
But I've just covered up the pain
