Story Behind the Song
This was in response to the way the world has become so scary and how personal courage must start with managing your own, internal demons first.
This was recorded at Lighthouse Studios in Burbank. All instruments were performed by talented producer Jonathan Hayes, who is also the co-writer on the song.
It was mastered by Bob Vosgien at Capitol Studios, Hollywood.
Lyrics
Tough Enough
On the day I lost my innocence
I thought the sky was falling
Then I learned to use my common sense
‘Cause I heard the devil calling,
"Come on up to the top floor, baby
The view from here is burning"
No, I said, as I headed out the door,
I can’t do this anymore
Well, then he yelled at me that I’m no good
If I were stronger, I would come back up
I said, no, you misunderstood,
My body’s weak, but my soul is tough enough…
Enough, it's tough enough
Enough, enough, it's tough enough
Now as I wander through my life
Traveling to all these places
I look for love in everyone’s eyes
But I still see him in their faces
And he yells at me that I’m no good
If I were stronger, I would run right up
I say, no, you misunderstood,
My body’s weak, but my soul is tough enough…
Enough, it's tough enough
Enough, enough, it's tough enough
Still I feel that there must be
One good person out there for me
But ‘til we meet I will just be tough enough
I will just be
tough enough
I will just be tough
Enough, I’m
tough enough
Tough enough,
I’m tough enough…
Tough Enough…
