Story Behind the Song
I always liked Little Richard's "Long Tall
Sally" and wanted to write a song that had the same power (and a similar name).
Long Sally was written in parts over the
space of two days and was recorded on a
Teac 2-track reel-to-reel machine in a
smallish room. I think there were 6 or 7
versions of this song (one repeating the intro riff as a "hook" throughout the song). But the master tapes were lost and only this version remains. Unfortunately, the recording is a bit noisey, but it's still
very listenable. And I think the song stands
out amidst the less than optimum recording
quality.
Lyrics
Long Sally, you've got the groove on me
Sexually, you're inside my dreams
You're a step behind my shoe
You do everything...I do (and so do you)
Long Sally, It's a clean, queen scene
In your alley, you can't be seen
You're a step behind my shoe
You do everything...
Long Sally, you're some kind of hot sinner
Really, in hell you'd call it winter
No, no, no...
You're a step behind my shoe
You do everything...I do (and so do you)
Long Sally, you've got the groove on me
Sexually, you're inside my dreams
You're a step behind my shoe
You do everything...I do (and so do you)
