Story Behind the Song
This song was written in October 1999, at a time when I was dreading something that was about to happen to me..something horrible, something depressing, something tragic...Heck, folks, it's a song about TURNING THIRTY, which I did about a week after I wrote this song. I'm telling myself in the song that instead of being down about it, I'm going to give my life a kickstart and make it better than ever. The music was inspired by 'Quick Before They Catch Us' by Paddy, Klaus and Gibson, but I threw in a little nod to a segment from a tune on 'Twelve Things To Like About Michael Lynch.' My real friends are the ones who can identify it
Lyrics
I'm on my way to the day when it all comes undone
But that's okay coz I'll stay here and lie in the sun
And when the morning comes a new world will just have begun
Oh you don't know but there's so very much on the way
I'm gonna know where to go and I'll know what to say
And for the first time in my life you'll all want to play
Wandering, waiting and anticipating
Riding these last days till I'm on the fastways
Out of the shadow and back in the saddle
On my way to rattle your world
You know me now but somehow you'll be asking yourself
If I'm the same, sure the name matches but nothing else
But look again and see that's me, just off of the shelf
(Two three four)
So now I'm bound for the town for the whole world to see
You had me down but I found that I don't have to be
So kindly step aside from my pride, take notice of me
Take notice of me
Take notice of me
Take notice of m
