Musical tribute to America's heroes, living and dead and all its citizens who bore witness to the terrifying and somber events of September 11, 2001. Despite the terroist attack on America, the good that soars from the ruins of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon is the resolve, perseverance and resiliency of the American Spirit. Story Behind the Song
The motivation for this track was due to the intense feelings generated by the events of September 11. Not unlike all Americans, I experienced a range of emotions and feelings over the horrific and tragic occurrences of that day. Being a composer, continued work on previously created tracks towards completion, was difficult to sustain since my mind was directed towards our American tragedy. So I began a new track with a somber and solemn intro that gave way to sudden, caustic crescendoes underscored by a driving, caustic percussive rhythm which to me, expressed the terroists' drive to complete their evil deeds. I decided to insert and mix actual 911 and news audio bytes plus sound effects into this work to further heighten and direct a sense of reality into the piece. Ending the track with President Bush' "bullhorn rally talk" to the firemen, rescue workers, and policemen at Ground Zero on September 14 injects the strong element of hope and perseverance and American pride. The inclusion of the Ground Zero workers' chants of "USA, USA" had to be the closing measure of this track. To end on those notes of hope is the American way and so indicative and reflective of the American Spirit!
