Story Behind the Song
Originally a trio for three women, this version was done without the third voice and the lead sung by the composer, Rick Tjia. It took a week to write but months to record, mainly to do scheduling problems.
Lyrics
Dear I said I tried
And I cried my eyes out
So hard that Oedipus would feel better
I said I tried
But dear I lied
At least I knew
That you’d be loving someone else without me
True if I gave you that chance
I’m not ashamed of my cowardice
But I sure as hell ain’t proud
I’m not ashamed of my cowardice
But I sure as hell ain’t proud
I just wanted you to go
Solitary
I wanted you to go
I’ve got no hatchet to bury
I don’t know
Why I haven’t ended it
I’ve had my things
Packed in a bag
Why do I sit here
Why do I sit here
Why do I sit here
Why can’t I feel my legs
I just wanted you to go
Solitary
I wanted you to go
I’ve got no hatchet to bury
I don’t know
Why I haven’t ended it Today may be the day
I just wanted you to go
Solitary
I wanted you to go
I’ve got no hatchet to bury
I don’t know
Why I haven’t ended it
