Story Behind the Song
"The Loving Ones," is a remorseful ode to failed relationships. The song is inspired a bit by the film Seven, when Freeman's character is investigating the so-called 'crime of passion.' "Just look at all the passion on that wall," he says. These are my sentiments exactly.

Lyric Sheet to
"The Loving Ones"
By Jason Swain
She was, the most precious thing in the world to me,
Brushed by the taint of infidelity.
The scent of roses carried in the breeze,
The day she lied.
And what do you do to make someone true?
What do you say when they can't undo,
All of the things that damage you,
That damage your heart?
(Chorus)
The time has come,
To say a prayer,
A prayer for the faithful
Who believe in love.
For the loyal at heart,
The pain will be there,
So please say a prayer,
For the loving ones.
(Verse 2)
And how much pressure can one heart take,
Before collapse, before it breaks?
All the self-doubt will eat away,
Everything left.
And perhaps it's all just a mistake,
A change for the worse, you can't escape.
Did it have to be us, to go this way?
Did it have to be so?
(Chorus repeat 3x)
