Story Behind the Song
The music was written by Jason in 2000, words written by Scott in an airplane on the way home from a mission trip to Brazil in 2002. It was our "song with great potential" for a while until finally recorded in summer 2002.
Ecclesiastes 1:1-11
Lyrics
Could my silence be,
Perceived as apathy?
Am I all that I am,
Able to be?
*(Chorus)*
We're staring at the sun while we drown in the rain,
Tell me does this gain seem worth the effort and pain?
Generations come and generations go,
But there's no remembrance of the dull things of old.
Will we overcome wrong?
Can we count what is gone?
Do these questions go on?
Questions go on?
Can our foolish eyes see,
All that they long to see?
Do you know what I mean?
It's now clear to me.
(Chorus)
Could my silence be,
Perceived as apathy?
Am I all that I am,
Able to be?
Can we master the world,
And it master us still?
Can we get our fill,
Outside God's will?
