A month of hard work has proved itself worthy, and this is the song I have to show for it. Powered by overdriven drums, screaming melodies, and enough bass to force your heart to pump at 144bpm, this track will drive you insane. But, in a good way, because when you're done, you'll have sweated out more fluid than you can drink and danced away enough pounds to turn you into a flabby raisin. Enjoy, and watch your step, I wouldn't want you to slip on your own sweat. |

Story Behind the Song
I decided to get a little creative and use some overdrive on my drum tracks, so I loaded up FruityLoops, scrawled down a simple drum loop, and turned on the overdrive. I adjusted the gain knob up a bit, and I nearly fell over with all the bass I was able to squeeze out of an otherwise dull drum track! I fine-tuned the gain so I wouldn't get any distortion, and I was amazed at how good everything was sounding. I added another sampler and loaded it with a bass sample, and threw it in between the kicks. Sounded ok... but then I decided to overdrive the bass, too, so up went the gain and I almost lost my lunch when I pressed the "preview" button! I got really excited, and continued adding parts here and there, along with mid-bass backing and plenty of variations. I got around to adding an arpreggio using FM7, and then I hit a road block. Now what? I needed a melody. Every note I put in after that sounded horrible, or just didn't stand out enough to make the song stick in your head. I spent weeks trying to come up with a suitable melody, but nothing seemed to fit. I even tried melodies from my older songs. Nope, they just weren't cutting it. Finally, about 3 days ago, I came up with one, and from then on it was like a match from above. The melody fit nice and snug, and was perfect for playing with during the middle section. 2 days and 10 renders later, I have what you are listening to now. Very loud, very powerful, very memorable. The hardest part about finishing this song actually didn't have anything to do with the song, but by the limitations of my computer's processor. Just sitting idle, my effects were already taking up 70% of my CPU, so you can imagine what happened everytime I hit "preview". It sounded like a horribly scratch CD. This was only for the last few hours or so before I finished it, but it almost made me wanna postpone working on it until I can get a newer, faster CPU. I'm glad I didn't. I struggled with it, even though I was pretty much writing with a deaf ear. I thought maybe I could pre-render certain loops or phrases to help the CPU, but I wanted to keep everything in its editable nature, so I didn't. Well, I'm glad it's finished and I didn't even have to buy a new CPU! I'm sure I will have to later though... So, with that all said, enjoy the track, and keep dancing!
