An older song that turned out nicely. Sort of an optimistic "everything's gonna be all right" number. Catchy chorus, with nice instrumentation in other sections. Music geeks will recognize the "Alberti 'treble'", and everyone loves a player piano solo. High school buddies will recognize this one from countless coffee houses and talent shows. Ok, 2. Those are pages turning at the end. Symbolism. Dig it.

    Story Behind the Song

    Lyrics
I know I never tried hard yet
I spoil every chance I get
But I think I know (it's always gotta be about you doesn't it?)
    I think-

I think a little peace is all I need
Get a little distance and I'll be free
    And maybe oneday things'll seem
Close to the way I want them to be

    But don't mind me,
    I'm just complaining,
    I don't think it'll last too long
And just because I say it's raining
That don't mean that there aint no sun

Don't mind me, I'll be fine
I know that there'll be other days
And maybe one, when we look back,
And see that it's all a big charade--

They'll all say that I'm an expert,
I've read it all and trust me I can talk
But try to put into practice
    Letters from a page
They think I've got it all together.
They think I'm worth my salt,

I think a little peace is all I need
Get a little distance and I'll be free
    And maybe oneday things'll seem
Close to the way I want them to be

    But don't mind me,
    I'm just complaining,
    I don't think it'll last too long
And just because I say it's raining
That don't mean that there aint no sun

Don't mind me, I'll be fine
I know that there'll be other days
And maybe one, when we look back,
And see that it's all a big charade--

    But eager as I am,
I am contented with the knowledge
That I spoil every chance I get,
    I never tried hard yet,
I get uneasy when it's quiet,
Leave the room if it's too loud.
    I like to be familiar,
but I get bored and I go out,
You know I'd love to make you happy,
    But I'd settle for content
    'Cause happy's overrated,
    And content is underspent,
    So don't mind me.
    No don't mind me
    Don't mind me.
    No don't mind me.

    No don't mind me,
    I'm just complaining,
    I don't think it'll last too long
And just because I say it's raining
That don't mean that there aint no sun

Don't mind me, I'll be fine
I know that there'll be other days
And maybe one, when we look back,
And see that it's all a big charade--
