    Story Behind the Song
This one came together from a beat I had programmed, into my synth, and then applied a lo - fi effect to the drums. The lyrics were free - form, and literally happened as the record lights were flashing. The track was not named until seconds before I uploaded it....

    Lyrics
(Recording Engineer on a cell phone): "I'm not sure if this is such a good idea...I mean, this is a WHITE guy - he's never rapped before...Yeah, I know, I know. He's going to be here any minute....what are we thinkin'? I guess all I can do is let him record it and erase it later. Umm - I think that's him now - we'd better can this...okay, I'm hangin' up now...hang on..."

    Lyrics::

This is like you've never heard me
    What I've never done before
But I got this idea in my head
And it's opened up the door

You see, it's one thing to be a liar...
It's another thing to play the game...
    We're all in this together
    We all feel the same

    Do you hear a story?
The one I'm tryin' not to tell?
    You fell for this before...
    You know this too well.

You see it's one thing to be a liar...
It's another to play a game....
    There might be no tomorrow
But we all feel the same.

    Can you hear me?
    Okay...

Once upon a time I lost you
Even though you stood right by
And now I think you can hear me...
    But you don't know why.

You see, it's one thing to be a liar...
It's another thing to play a game....
I don't think you heard me...
    It all sounds the same.

    It's one thing...
    It's one thing...

It's one thing to start a fire...
It's another thing to fan the flames
    I think you're a liar...
    And everybody feels the same.

    Can you hear me now?
    I think you can!

It's one thing to be a liar...
It's another thing to play the game.
I know you CAN hear me...
    And everybody feels the same.

    It's one thing....

    It's one thing...

YEah, I say it's one thing...

It's one thing to be a liar...
It's another thing to play the games.
    Who are we both kidding?
    Nobody will feel the same....
    And I'm out......
    And I'm out...

    'Cause it's one thing...
    It's one thing...
