A cheer-up I love you song for a friend who is currently in the dumps. I wrote this as I sang it and rolled the tape as I was going. This is an acoustic version with just me and a piano: think Counting Crows and Ben Folds, but I eventually would like to add a bass line and drums maybe even some guitar, but for now I am happy with this version, in fact I sent it in to the 97X Posure contest. Wish me luck. | MP3.com CD: Diaries and Watches - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
A friend of mine that I don't talk to much was/is feeling pretty bummed out and asked that I write a song for them, well I wrote this one song about how I would write a song but wasn't sure what to write about and this song sort of follows that one, almost like a musical, it's like the next piece in the conversation. The thing I am most proud of about this song is that it was wriiten, performed and recorded all in one take, a total improv that I happened to be recording.
Lyrics
Jean-Marie
will you ever see
how lovely you are
Caught between
all the things you've been
and a wish on a star
CH: Well they don't deserve you and neither do I.
A saddness in your heart makes the whole world cry.
Oh Jean-Marie,
Will you ever see.
So tell me now
how to help you out
and change things around
Cos I forget
just why you let
these people bring you down.
(back to chorus)
So Jean-Marie
are you telling me
you don't need my help
I tried to
been lied to
by only yourself
Well they don't deserve you and neither do I.
A saddness in your heart makes the whole world cry.
Oh Jean-Marie,
Will you ever come back to me.
