Estimated Release: 1/2003 More Info: http://www.ionjavelin.com Review by Rick Munarriz, Miami, Florida, USA ( mp3.com/ParisByAir ): Like a match struck in the fog, Broken Surface is an illuminating tune draped in thick melodic layers. Ion Javelin and Harald Löwy lay down some silky smooth tracks while Mike Burn and David Lee Howard pepper the song with top-notch guitar work. The poetic lyrics are spoken, weaving in and out of cozy musical bed that's laid before it. It may be a broken surface, but it certainly does not need fixing. Review by Ken Trancus, Fayetteville, North Carolina - USA (mp3.com/Ken_Tancrus): "This track is amazing. The amount of space between each instrument gives it an airy, live quality that is the prefect juxtaposition to the filtered breathy vocals. I especially like the alternating snare sounds. In close then outside. The guitar accents are in just the right place at just the right time. Truly outstanding. It doesn't get any cleaner than this." |

Lyrics
The broken Surface
(Ion Javelin)
I try so try so very hard
to get into a shady zone of Central Park
but being on my way right in the midday heat
a big parade is taking place right in the open street
look: the cheer leaders' bodies are made of plastic
and they move as if they all were spastic
I see their pallid faces - one by one
recognize no difference in the hazy sun
can't keep control - in this state of mind
I sense blindness for the fate of mankind
I begin to see it - step by step -
the broken surface is a matter of fact
I try so try so very hard
to get to the other side of Central Park
but can't keep control - in this state of mind
I see the blindness for the fate of mankind
lots of heads keep on talkin' about the overload
but do we really travel on a quiet road
all this pressure from my head to my feet
I feel this city's comin' down on me
the atmosphere of down town maybe drives you insane
'cause the city's gettin' crasser every f*****' day
I've just begun to see it - step by step -
the broken surface is a matter of fact
