	Story Behind the Song The alto starts, the tenor echoes, the bass joins in and with the music flowing, soaring above, the soprano sings the glorious chorale theme. I heard it first on the radio played by Peter Hurford. I was overawed as it dawned upon me that the hymn's last note was fixed, a magnificent tonic inverted pedal point with shifting harmonies still dancing below, until the last chord; playing it myself, I didn't want to release it.
